NYPD Kills A Naked Man Armed With A Fluorescent Light Tube
Could the NYPD not come up with a better resolution to a cornered naked man on a precarious ledge swinging a fluorescent light tube than tasering the guy and watching him fall to his death? The guy was obviously mentally disturbed and this public display should serve as a case study for why police should not respond to emergencies that would be better handled by mental health professionals—we should do the same with the country's drugs problems. Plus, whatever happened to those dudes all dressed in white that would show up in a ice cream truck and haul the crazies away like in old school Looney Tune cartoons? Mentally ill patients are especially susceptible to death by taser because many psychiatric medications (if you've ever been on them, which I'm sure this guy had atleast been on them at one point in his life) effect the electrical pulses that control your heart, amongst other things. Its one of the reasons why court decisions have made it illegal for corrections officers to use tasers to subdue known mentally ill prisoners. It doesn't surprise me however that the hacks at NYPD just went in a tasered the guy, cause we all know their NON-LETHAL!
