FIXED GEARS

Verdict on TWIST Fixed: Cool To Look At, Ridiculous To Buy

There's no denying artist Barry McGee's skills, but still, no amount of Fong-like face designs can justify dropping $2100 on this RVCA x Cinelli frame or a complete bike for $3,700—even if they're limited to only 25 of each and for a good cause. The main problem with lifestyle brand RVCA tying to market fixed gears like streetwear or limited edition art objects is that the hardcore kids who ride 'em don't really give a shit about all that, and probably never even heard of McGee. And the ones that know quite intimately who he is, including his graffiti persona TWIST, probably don't have the G-money to shell out a on a track bike, or if they did have the loot, would probably buy art that has a chance of appreciating. Other notable artists for this project that "attests to the undeniable link between underground art and track bike culture" include Ashley Macomber, Clare Rojas, C.R. Stecyk III, Dan Murphy, DMOTE, Jesse Geller, Josh Lazcano, KAWS, Madsaki, Phil Frost, PM Tenore and Stephen Powers aka ESPO, of course! |Supertouch|
