Inside an Abandoned NYC Subway Station

May 21, 2014 | Andy Cush

Above, watch raw footage of an urban explorer’s trip inside the abandoned South Ferry inner loop station, which opened in 1918 and was shuttered in 1977. Writes the explorer on YouTube:

Over all these years, the MTA has turned much of the station into storage rooms and also built some machinery there. You can catch a glimpse of this station by getting off at south ferry and looking at the opposite wall. One opening that wasn’t bricked up can still be seen from the outer loop platform.

The station looks eerie, and the footage feels a little like the setup to a vérité horror film. Fortunately, there are no monsters.
