Where Not to Urinate Publicly in NYC: The Interactive Map

April 4, 2013 | Julia Dawidowicz

Nothing tops off a wild night on the town like a nice, long, public pee. But as many intrepid squat-poppers have learned the hard way, public urination can also be a total buzz kill if a police officer catches you mid-release. Worry no more: Courtesy of Gothamist, here is an interactive map that shows where in NYC you’re most likely to get busted for relieving your bladder in the great urban outdoors.

The map depicts all citations handed out for public urination in 2012, broken down by neighborhood. As you can see, Elmhurst, Queens and (unsurprisingly) Williamsburg are public leak danger zones, with over 1,000 citations written by each area’s precinct. On the other hand, it appears that in green-colored areas, like Lower Manhattan, Stuy Town, or Park Slope, you’re in the clear.

So before you go out and paint the town yellow this weekend, study carefully.
