#BanksyNY 8: “Plato” Door Goes Up in Greenpoint

October 8, 2013 | Andy Cush

Banksy was a little later than usual in posting his Better Out Than In piece today, but a few minutes ago, his website confirmed that it’s in Greenpoint. Not much to go on this time: just a light blue door with some bricks next to it, and the text of the piece itself:

I have a theory that you can make any sentence seem profound by writing the name of a dead philosopher at the end of it.

-Plato

Perhaps a sly comment that it may be Banksy’s name, not his art, that’s sending everybody wildly searching? Anyway, the hunt is on, folks. As always, if you know anything, hit us up.

UPDATE: We found it. 266 Freeman Street, between Provost and McGuinness. It already looks a little scuffed up.

UPDATE 2: The door has been removed.
