Data-Viz Your Life With These Pretty, Creepy Check-In Maps

June 5, 2013 | Andy Cush

If you’re the type who isn’t averse to the more Big Brother-y aspects of logging your every move on social media, you might as well d0 something useful with all that personal information you’re sending into the ether. Enter Etch, a company that makes nice-looking minimalist maps like the one above based on your Foursquare check-ins.

For just $48, the folks at Etch will print a map that shows everywhere you’ve checked in to, plus your choice of a specially marked location (if you happen to live in Manhattan, Portland, or San Francisco that is). It’s both a tasteful tribute to the places you’ve been and a helpful reminder that you’re being followed where ever you go. What could be more charming?
