Awful, Petty Staten Island Republican Remains Awful, Petty

June 17, 2013 | Andy Cush

Michael Grimm, the possibly mob-affiliated Staten Island Republican who has ginned up the outrage machine over “offensive” art, painted some teenaged vandalism of his office as a Democratic plot, and had his campaign funding repeatedly investigated on the federal level, is up to his old tricks again.

Allegedly pissed off that he wasn’t invited to a press conference announcing bipartisan bills that would protect Zadroga Act money for 9/11 victims from the coming sequester, Grimm is now withdrawing his support for one of those bills.

“It’s petty politics,” said John Feal, president of the Fealgood Foundation, an organization that supports 9/11 victims. “Congressman Grimm is someone I looked up to in the past and had a working relationship with. Shame on him for using 9/11 every anniversary and ignoring the first responders the other 364 days of the year.”
