Thanks to the New York City Department of Transportation, this year’s Summer Streets festival will again block off seven miles of Manhattan streets. From the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park you can walk, bike and take a free zip line, fuck yeah.

Street closure swill last from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on three Saturdays in August and will also feature a 25-foot-climbing wall, but whatever. The fun, fun zip line was unveiled at Union Square yesterday, with the DOT’s commissioner singing praises for its functional perks: “It’s a terrific way to see the city in a whole new way. You don’t need a cup of coffee. Just start the day with a zip line.”

So, how can you best take advantage of this ride? Soundtrack! Even though the DOT’s ettiquette page recommends not wearing headphones at Summer Streets, it would probably feel good with a little Hans Zimmer, no? And a cape. BATMAAAN.
