New York legislators are trying to effectively outlaw all anonymous comments online. This is a bad idea for a bunch of reasons.

I was thinking about this for the past week, not knowing that someone was thinking of making it a law. I just noticed how some people would say the most outrageous things in comments sections and thought it would be a good idea for the site owners (not politicians) to make them own up by requiring that commentators clearly identify who they are. I mean if you can call me the N-Word, surely you have no problem letting me know that you are Cleotus Jenkins from Berkley California. Right? But now I'm in a conundrum as I go to submit this comment. Do I include my real name? Or do I include an internet Alias? Now I'm torn…
