Surfcasting is not just fishing–and it sure as hell isn’t boat fishing. Surfcasters stand toe-to-toe with the tide and wrestle out fish with nothing but their rods and hands. Welcome to Montauk.
Special thanks to Surfcasters Journal for their instrumental help in rounding up this motley crew.

awesome! surfcasting separates the men from the boys in montauk.
Quite essentially the most primal version left of fishing (minus those Pacific tribesman and their roping methods). Those rednecks diggin in holes, for catfish is a joke. Let them try that for bass after a steady week of 15-20kt south winds. Those “fisherman” would have a searching party by the Coast Guard. That was grumpy, we should all tolerate and respect our rare few fellow fishing brothers., Apologies, that was my pre-surgery shoulder making mr a grump…. PS … I miss fishing
Yes Dennis!
where can I see this
I totally love surfcasting! I think it is a great way to free one’s stress. I do it all the time and makes me happy. I like this picture too. It rather reminds me of my father. Great post by the way! search here
