Gotta say something, not a big fan of something you're talking about here. From you Olympic shpiel you seem to be giving the impression anyone can be an Olympic athlete if they work hard enough. This is patently false. Olympic atheletes are able to get the results of their hard work because they are incredible genetic outliers gifted with higher muscle density, blood oxygen levels, and other factors that are either impossible to change or impossible to change by more than a little bit.
This buys into the Just World Myth, which says "if you just work hard enough you can do anything" which is false, but also harmful because it also says, "therefore, if you're not successful it's your own fault cause you didn't work hard enough," therefore ignoring privileged, societal prejudices, uneven opportunities, and a host of other issues that make it so many people can't succeed even if they work as hard as they can. I'm sure you didn't mean to infer this, but this is the greater logical extension of what you're saying so you should consider that next time you say that.
So you took an issue with one sentence of this entire video (which was simply a segue into the main point), mentioned that you are taking it out of the context in which it was meant, and then picking that single sentence apart? Great work on that. I'm sure your philosophy professor will be proud.
propose an new Olympics announcing team for the 2014 Sochi Olympics & 2016 Rio Olympics for nbc
what happened to new videos weekly? promises promises….
Gotta agree with joseph here…maybe hes on vacation?
Is this merely a criticism of NBC's poor Olympic coverage, or an indictment of American society as a whole? Perhaps both? HL Mencken said something to the effect of nobody ever going broke underestimating the taste of the American public, and while he was just kind of snob, seems like this Olympic coverage may have been a good example of that sentiment.
Is that a Can't Stop Won't Stop a History of the Hip Hop Generation by Jeff Chang binder he has on his shelf behind him? ….maybe it's just a hard cover copy. haha. I have a paperback. That book changed my life, Dj Kool Herc's 2.5 pg introduction changed my life alone, the rest of the book was delicious crucial icing on the cake. I recommend everyone read it.
