Catching the 6 train downtown just got a little more pleasant.
A new electronic art installation called Hive was installed at the Bleecker St. station by MTA Arts for Transit and Design program. Designed by Leo Villareal, Hive is a hex-shaped light sculpture inspired by mathematician John Conway’s Game of Life.
The installation is still being tweaked, and construction on the Broadway/Lafayette-Bleecker transfer makes it a bit hard to appreciate, but Hive‘s changing hues are far more pleasant than drab fluorescent lights that don’t always work.
