Josh Keyes’s newest work is the Apocalypse meets Ringling Bros. His newest exhibit opening at the Roq La Rue Gallery tonight in Seattle, appropriately “The Circus and The Sea” features an ape beating an elephant to death. Is this commentary on human (humanoid?) cruelty?

If yes, animalia certainly get their revenge, with an octopus and a seal turning remnants of a carousels and human sculls into an unorthodox plaything. Six of Keyes’ new pieces will be unveiled alongside works from John Brophy. A preliminary piece of this show has been sold to benefit Big Life Foundation, an organization actively fighting wildlife poaching in East Africa. That makes a lot of sense. Josh Keyes, Nov 9 – Dec 01, Roq La Rue Gallery, Seattle
