Gaming junkies well-versed in Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect now have something else to be excited about. Korean collective HYBE has created a new installation called IRIS, a 20 x 20 pixel screen composed of 400 clear LCDs panels that are linked to the Kinect, generating interactive awesomeness for easily amused fans everywhere. IRIS uses ambient light and black shape-shifting liquid crystals that open and close in circular patterns to create beautiful silhouettes that mimic the motions of the observer. Looks like there is a fat patent check from Microsoft headed HYBE’s way. Or not.
