Looking back on Mitt Romney’s wacky week of adventures with black people.

When you run for president you get asked about Bain Capital.
When you get asked about Bain Capital you need to create a diversion.
When you need to create a diversion you throw Condoleezza Rice on the floor like a smoke pellet.
Dont throw Condoleezza Rice on the floor like a smoke pellet…….in fact, dont use Black people as a tactical strategy at all!
Why would Romney take your advice? He has shown himself throughout this campaign to have no backbone, even on issues that seemingly are close to him, like his Mormon religion. He has the perfect opportunity to say to his base (and other voters) "lay off calling my religion a cult, because in America, we don't have religious tests for office (although we actually kind of do), we separate church and state (although we're crossing a lot of lines lately on that)". His candidacy is a good opportunity to show why we need the separation of church and state, because if you think someone is the best candidate for an office, it shouldn't matter if his/her religion is different from yours. But he is not going to say any of that, and just keep hoping that these same base voaters who are so upset about Obama's race will forget they normally regard his church as non-Christian at best, a cult from outer space at worst.
Hmmm, re-reading that comment,I don't think I was really on my point while posting…the point being Romney won't even stand up for people presumably he affliates with (his Mormon church); why would anyone think that he will stand up for the vast, vast majority of Americans who are not like him in any way?
People threw around Sec Rice's name as VP candidate briefly in 2008 as well; that was in an attempt to show that their hatred of Obama had nothing to do with race I think. It just showed they really didn't know much about her beyond her race and her disturbing foreign policy ideas that they seemed to like so much. I saw her in Miss Representation, which at least showed that she acknowledged structural gender barriers, and probably race ones as well, even if she might not necessarily be on board with all the film discussed (she may be, I just don't know enough about her views to speak to it).
Wow! First time I've ever seen this blog. LOVED IT! This commentary was definitely worth a "thumbs up".
