What’s up with that #NYANCATCITY hashtag? Oh, nothing, just a four-day pop-up event at the Hole Shop  dedicated to celebrating the best meme of all time! (Sorry, Mr. Trololo.)

Don’t fight it. From December 13 to 16, 2012, come worship the “popular” internet meme Nyan Cat with a series of art talks, parties and DJ nights, Nyan Cat-inspired food and beverages, kitty adoptions and more… Meet the Nyan Cat creator Christ Torres himself. Why? Because internet.

Also because Nyan Nyan Nyan forever. Look: Nyan Cat. Look: More Nyan Cat!

Also because Nyan Nyan Nyan Tom Waits-style forever.

The festival is curated and produced by the New York Art Department. For a full list of events, check out this online press release (It’s not a PDF! Good at internet!)

Oh, and, it also happens that both Hyperallergic senior editor/ANIMAL contributor Kyle Chayka (because net art) and your ANIMAL art editor me (because net art?) will speaking on a panel about art blogs and community at the Hole Shop on the 16th at 6pm. Then, closing party DJ night at Lit with several very internet acts including Lynchian pop duo the Silent Drape Runners who are actually inspired by Agent Dale Cooper, memes, vibes, blogs, cats and etc., which makes perfect sense.

It’s going to be very internet.
