Last month, ANIMAL reported on Skateistan, an organization focused on empowering Afghanistan’s youth through skateboarding and in-classroom education. Today, Buzzfeed points to a tragic update from the organization–four of Skateistan’s students and youth leaders were killed Saturday in a suicide bombing in Jabul. “It is…with great pain and heavy hearts that we share our memories of children who were not just victims of senseless violence,” reads a statement from the organization, “but also beautiful human beings who will never be forgotten by their teachers, peers, co-workers, friends, or family.” The victims include Korshid, 14, Parwana, 8, Nawab, 17, and Mohammad Eeza, 13. That’s Mohammad Eeza to the left in the above photo. Dedications in the victims’ memory will be shared tomorrow, according to Skateistan’s blog.
