Greece’s Golden Dawn party, which has been widely referred to as a fascist and neo-Nazi organization, recently announced plans to set up an office in Astoria, Queens. Now, many neighborhood residents and politicians are gathering to protest the group’s arrival. “Golden Dawn is an organization of Holocaust deniers, an organization that actually speaks admiringly of the Nazi movement,” said Public Advocate Bill de Blasio. “They don’t belong here in New York City.” Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, who represents the area, agreed. “There will be picketers outside every day, because it doesn’t represent who we are as Greek Americans,” she said, “as immigrants and as people who came to this country to coexist in peace.”

Even Anonymous got in on the action. Shortly after the Golden Dawn NYC website went up, anons took credit for shutting it down. “GOLDEN DAWN NOT ONLY IS YOUR PHONE LINES TANGO DOWN,” the group announced via the Twitter account @YourAnonNews, “BUT UR WEBHOST R BELONG TO US.”

When was the last time you heard city officials and members of Anonymous agreeing on something?
