As if the possible evacuation of New York City and all its surrounding areas—about 20 million people in all—isn’t enough of a threat to close the Indian Point nuclear power plant should a mishap occur, an environmental advocacy group just dug up another one: the water.

Yes, our precious water supply could be contaminated if even a small amount of cancer-causing crap seeps out the facility according to a new report by Environment New York and apparently “leakage of radioactive material into groundwater is a common occurrence at U.S. nuclear power plants.” I’m no hydrology expert, but that sounds bad.
