After yesterday’s devastating troll-attack by some becocked hater, FEMEN’s LiveJournal blog/internet HQ has been suspended (for now?). Just before, FEMEN protested UEFA’s 2010 soccer match for their part in sexual tourism of Ukraine and Poland by posing all porn-like and faux-dicking each other with beer bottles. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a feminist conundrum on our hands (and knees.) Photos NSFW.

See, Ukraine (UPDATE: Warner Brothers) has just chosen the mascot names for its soccer games (UPDATE: Euro-2012 soccer games) — “Slaveka and Slavka.” So, FEMEN created their own — “Blyadko and Blyadek.” Roughly, they translate to “Slutinka and Slutka.” These Ukranian and Polish flag-color-garlanded alter-egos “love sex, soccer and beer” and, in all their furious lipstick lesbianism, somehow represent the harrowing exploitation of young women in these countries by the relentless sex-tourism mafia. See them bring attention to the issue by taking a stand for their particular position — against prostitution, for criminalizing international Johns and bent over backwards with legs outstretched for justice.

Yes, it’s a lot to take in. Keep in mind, not all feminists share their position on sex-workers and porn-actresses being helpless victims — or, conversely, FEMEN’s seemingly-hypocritical attention-seeking antics being feminist — but, when it comes down to the specific, sobering circumstances of the industry in these Slavic countries, it’s something we all need to be paying attention to.
